Healthcare Professionals Registry is an initiative taken by the Government of India as a part of the Ayushman Bharat Mission, to onboard an extensive repository of registered & certified Medical Professionals on India’s Digital Health Ecosystem. 

It aims to evolve the comprehensive repository into a citizen & practitioner-centric platform of global standards! Healthcare Professionals who wish to get connected to India’s Digital Healthcare Ecosystem for the digital dispensation of healthcare activities & services should enroll themselves for the Healthcare Professional ID.

Importance of Healthcare Professionals ID:

The Digital Health ID is a unique 14-digit number used to access, manage & disseminate your medical records digitally. Your medical records are stored in a more comprehensive & reliable space, evolving the way to access health records for seamless storage, sharing & retrieval. 

All Healthcare Professionals in India who wish to access & share their medical records across different healthcare systems & stakeholders digitally in a hassle-free manner should register themselves for the Healthcare Professionals ID. The data shall be entered by the Healthcare Professionals & will be verified by the concerned Council/ Board, thereby building blocks for digitizing all necessary details about Doctors under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). 

The Healthcare Professional ID will ensure that only qualified, trained & registered Medical Professionals are a part of the Healthcare Professionals Registry. 

How to Register for the Healthcare Professionals Registry?

Registering for the Healthcare Professional ID is an easy procedure of 3 simple steps requiring your basic details & your 20-30 minutes! 

  1. Generate your unique Healthcare Professional ID number using your Aadhaar or other KYC details. 
  2. Fill the Registration Form with basic demographic details, registration details, academic qualifications & professional details. The registry advises all interested candidates to keep their Registration Certificate, Degree  & Proof of Employment handy before initiating the registration process. 
  3. Submit the form for final verification to the concerned Council/ Board. 

Completing these 3 steps will make you eligible for your Healthcare Professional ID. 

Enrolling for the Healthcare Professional ID is on a voluntary basis as of now but the concerned Council/ Board/ Registrar might make it mandatory for all Doctors to register on HPR. 

List of Documents Required for Healthcare Professional ID:

The process of enrollment in the Healthcare Professional Registry does not require a lot of documents. Given below is a list of documents that will be required at the time of registration:

  1. Aadhaar Card or other KYC details 
  2. Registration Certificate 
  3. Professional Degree
  4. Proof of Employment 

Medical Practitioners are expected to disclose complete & genuine information while registering to facilitate Healthcare Professionals Registry as a single source of truth for all Healthcare Professionals information in the ABDM ecosystem. 

Benefits of Registering for the Healthcare Professional ID:

Medical Practitioners registering for the Healthcare Professionals Registry (HPR) have access to several benefits. Let’s have a look at some of the benefits below:

  1. The HPR acts as a comprehensive collection of verified Doctors Profiles comprising their specialisations, educational background for patient view. Such verified Healthcare Professionals Profiles available on a national platform will instill trust in the patients. 
  2. Enrolling in the HPR will facilitate faster Registration, License Renewal, NOC Issuance with Councils & other governing bodies. 
  3. Seamless employment & instant credentials verification.
  4. Convenient access to digital medical records for seamless management & retrieval. 
  5. Verified Healthcare Professionals can treat patients even remotely through telemedicine & digital health records.

Healthcare Professionals Registry is a step towards creating a digital database comprising all Healthcare Professionals relevant information. The HPR will not substitute the existing information issued by the concerned Councils but it will compile the data from all States participating in the Ayush Bharat Digital Mission, thereby providing additional benefits to the enrolled. 

Enrolling for the Healthcare Professional ID involves no cost & is voluntary. Any Medical Practitioner who wishes to avail the benefits can enroll in the HPR.
