On 27th April 2025, a strong storm hit Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It damaged many places, including a doctor’s workplace. The doctor had a fire insurance policy from ICICI Lombard, and the damage needed to be covered quickly. What happened?
After the storm, a claim was raised on 29th April 2025. The insurer was informed, and a surveyor was sent to inspect the damage. On 8th May, the surveyor shared a list of required documents. That’s when a big issue showed up.

The insured had not maintained a Fixed Asset Register (FAR). This register is important. It lists the equipment, furniture, and items the doctor had at the workplace. Without it, the insurer couldn’t verify what was damaged or lost. There was another problem, too. The surveyor noted that GST would be deducted from the claim amount because the insurer hadn’t received any proof that the insured didn’t deal with GST.

The status of the claim
The outcome of the claim was a successful settlement. The claim was marked as paid and closed under a fire insurance policy by ICICI Lombard. The insured had requested a total amount of ₹5,25,000, out of which ₹3,25,238 was approved and credited. An additional amount is still pending and will be added once the insured submits the final repair invoice and proof of payment. The reimbursement was processed and settled on 17th June 2025.
